Creating Our Own Resource Finding App
Resource Finding App
We aim to develop a "resource finding app" that connects young mothers to essential services, including medical clinics for pre and postnatal care, transportation services, housing, childhood development tips, etc.
Easy Access
This app will streamline access to vital resources, ensuring that our participants can easily find the support they need for their health and overall well-being.
Civic Engagement and National Impact
Civic Engagement and Advocacy
We are committed to ensuring that young mothers are engaged in their communities. We will help them register to vote and educate them on their civic duties, empowering them to advocate for themselves and their children.
National Young Moms Association
To amplify the voices of young mothers on a larger scale, we plan to establish the "National Young Moms Association." This organization will serve as a platform for advocacy, support, and resource sharing, connecting young mothers across the nation.
Incorporating Safety Technology
Redeem Detroit will prioritize the safety of our participants by incorporating "safety technology" into the renovation of our buildings and homes. This includes upgrades like installing systems that regulate bath water temperature and depth to prevent burns and drowning, as well as innovative crib technology that adjusts based on the baby's movements to prevent suffocation.
Empowering Young Moms to Build Thriving Businesses
After being trained in the skilled trades we will help young mothers in our program establish small businesses, such as a property management company focused on making minor repairs in rental houses and apartment complexes. Another venture could be a "baby-proofing company" that assists new mothers in making their homes safe for children, along with providing emergency preparedness training on topics like CPR and poison ingestion.
Community Impact and Economic Growth
Increasing Homeownership
We will focus on increasing homeownership among our participants, contributing to neighborhood revitalization and eliminating homelessness.
Boosting Local Economy
Educated and employed homeowners will provide a substantial boost to the local economy, benefiting businesses, fostering growth, and adding to the tax base.
Building New Schools
As our community grows, we'll build new schools for the children of our participants. This will ensure high academic standards and strong parent participation, which will have all students reading at grade level or better by 2nd grade.
Reducing Infant Mortality Rates
Our comprehensive, holistic support system will decrease Detroit's infant mortality rate, which is currently the highest among major U.S. cities as well as the crime and incarceration rates.
Conclusion: A Brighter Future
At Redeem Detroit, we believe that the future holds immense potential for the young mothers and children we serve. Through our ambitious plans and comprehensive support, we are creating pathways out of poverty and building a stronger, more resilient community. Together, we are making a difference, one mother and child at a time.
